My path to becoming a therapist started with my own experiences as a patient. During that time, I saw firsthand how meaningful the relationship between a therapist and patient can be. The support, encouragement, and guidance I received during challenging moments inspired me to pursue a career where I could help others in the same way. That experience shaped the way I approach therapy today. I strive to create a supportive environment where patients feel comfortable, motivated, and empowered throughout their rehabilitation journey.
What I love most about being a therapist is the relationships I get to build with my patients. Taking the time to truly get to know each person allows therapy to become more meaningful and personalized. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch patients grow in their abilities and begin to regain confidence in themselves. Whether I’m working with a child learning new skills through play or supporting an adult as they work toward independence in daily activities, being part of that progress is one of the most fulfilling parts of my job.
My patients are what motivate me to keep growing as a therapist. I’m inspired by the effort and determination they bring to therapy, and it pushes me to continually learn, improve my skills, and think creatively in my approach. I want every patient I work with to feel supported and confident in their progress. Knowing that therapy can help someone regain independence, participate more fully in daily life, or reach a goal they once thought was out of reach is what drives me to give my best each day.
1. Developing a creative, client-centered approach to therapy, allowing me to adapt activities and treatment strategies to meet each patient’s unique goals, strengths, and challenges.
2. Building strong therapeutic relationships that help patients feel supported, motivated, and confident throughout their rehabilitation journey.
I hope to continue developing my clinical skills and exploring specialized areas of occupational therapy to better support both pediatric and adult patients. My goal is to continue growing as a therapist so I can provide thoughtful, effective, and individualized care throughout my career.
1. I grew up in Iowa right along the Mississippi River
2. I have a cat named Twix because her coloring reminds me of the candy bar
Outside of work, I enjoy baking, taking care of my many plants, and spending time outdoors with my husband; whether we’re going on walks, kayaking, playing pickleball, or trying out new activities together.
